Visited August 6, 2008. 

 

We drove all around the Pinehurst Airport, and even walked out onto the runway, but could not find any way onto the field without crossing private property.  Donny, the man who runs the Pinehurst Inn, told us that the road to it is guarded by a codger with a shotgun.  Darnedest thing to
imagine for a state airport.  Do stop in at the Pinehurst Inn: a charming renovated hundred-year-old hotel.
